If you want to create a slide that integrates one of your own images or photos with the consistent look of a Keynote theme, you can frame it with one of the backgrounds included with Keynote. When you layer the Keynote background over your photo, your photo shows through the transparent area, perfectly framed by the Keynote background.

Keynote includes slides designed to be used with your photos that include a special transparent area called an “alpha-channel graphic.” When you place your image on one of these slides, the background frames your image.
